Frequently Asked Questions
Please find below general queries with respect to solar technology or solar power installation.
Solar Technology
Solar Panels are electronic systems which are activated in the presence of photons (from Sunlight). This generates a current in the cells on panel. The Direct Current generated at the panel is then fed to DCDB (Direct Current Distribution Box) which supplies the current to inverter. Inverter converts the Direct Current(DC) to Alternate Current (AC). Our appliances at homes use AC and thus inverter is a crucial component.
Inverters then provides the AC to ACDB which then connects to LT Distribution Panel. This LT Panel distributes the received power to the electronic appliances in the building.
It is affordable, economical, efficient and green.
A solar power plant operates for about 35 years. Efficiency for the first 15 years remains around 90% and after that it is reduced to 80%.

Solar systems are differentiated based on connectivity to the grid. There are 3 types:
i. Off-Grid – Batteries are added as a component which is used to store the energy generated from the plant.
ii. On-Grid – Batteries are not used. Instead, net metering is done. Through net meter, electricity generated is supplied to the grid and the owner is compensated for the same.
iii. Hybrid – It is a mix of On-Grid and Off-Grid system depending on the confirmed usage of electricity and rest can be supplied to the Grid.
Net metering is a billing mechanism through which power plant owners can be compensated for the energy suspplied to the discom. Every unit of energy generated by the plant, if not consumed, is supplied to the grid.
A 1 KW of power plant generates about 1300-1400 units per annum.
Solar panels require sunlight to generate energy. As winters has lesser number of sunny days, the power generated is lesser as compared to summers.
The efficiency of the solar panel decreases on a cloudy day as the sunlight is blocked by clouds. However, it still works but generates lesser amount of energy.
It requires dust free panels to keep the efficiency high. Cleaning with plain water would suffice. In case, it has thick dirt, grime and bird droppings, cold water and soft detergents could be used. Sponge can be used but metal brushes should not be used.
In addition, visual inspection of the modules, structures, frames is required to check for any defects. In case defects are detected, repairing or replacement might be needed.
The amount of energy generated is recorded at the inverter and can be seen from that. Apart from this, there is a Remote Monitoring Unit which helps the owner get easy access to data on mobile as well.
Panels are under a manufacturer warranty of 25 years and thus the manufacturer is liable in case of defects. Corrit would be happy to help in such cases.
Yes. Solar system is connected to the main LT Panel and supplies generated electricity to the main electricity line of the house. Thus, every appliance in the house can use the electricty generated by the plant.
An Off-grid solar plant has storage batteries and thus provides electricty in areas where there is frequent power cuts. The stored energy can be utilised. However, it increases the cost of the plant. In addition, Government does not provide subsidy for an off-grid plant.
Solar Panels wear out in the sense that over a long period of time they become less efficient at converting solar energy into usable electricity. Although if you clean the solar panels with water weekly, they will maintain their efficiency much better.
The solar panels do come with a warranty of 25 years although they function properly for 30 years and more. The state government also provides subsidy for solar plant installation at your premises.
Not only do you save huge amounts of money overtime by installing a solar system at your home, but you also do your part of saving our mother nature.
- Land or Rooftop (most important)
- Investment (Money!)
- Shadow free area
- On-Grid plant or Off-grid plant for personal use
- Subsidy availability
- Efficiency (that would depend on the brand of solar panels etc.)
- Can someone clean the panels? (To achieve maximum output)
- Engineers (For design, engineering and installation of the solar plant)
Corrit
Corrit can intiate the project once electricity connection is set up to the building by the DISCOM.
Yes. Corrit submits the Project Completion Report and other documents with respect to solar power plant installation to the respective authorities.
Yes. Corrit helps in documentation and application process for subsidy approval.
1 KW plant would be installed with 3 solar panels of about 330W each.
1 KW of rooftop plant requires 100 Square Feet (11.2 Yards or Gajj) of shadow free area.
We install solar power plant at the ground and rooftop which can supply electricity to the whole building including your water heater. Corrit does not sell electrical appliances.
- Monthly bill
- Area on rooftop
- Location/city
- Sanctioned load
Corrit can work on any building whether residential or commercial. It needs to have a sturdy ceiling which can take the loads of panels and infrastructure. We can even install a ground mounted solar plant.
Corrit procures wide range and variety of panels. Various companies such as Trina, REC, LG depending upon client needs can be made available. However, to claim subsidy from the government, it is important to have an Indian Make panel. Hence, in most cases, the panels are either of Adani or Vikram.
Inverters are an important component of the solar system and thus their quality is very important. We recommend Zever SMA, Delta, ABB, Growatt for our client. However, clients’ needs could be met with any specific inverter company.
Corrit provides batteries from varied companies such as Exide, UTL, Luminous, Tesla.
Finance
Cost of a rooftop plant depends on multitude of factors. Some of them are size, requirement of mounting structures, battery requirement (if needed), location. Please contact us in case you want more details on costing.
Every government has its own policy. In general, subsidy is available for residential properties, educational institutions, healthcare institutions. However, commercial establishments are not included.
Yes. Banks provide finance for rooftop solar projects.
Government provides subsidy only for an on-grid plant. If batteries are used, it becomes ineligible for subsidy.
